Empowering Therapy, Wherever You Are

At Insight Counseling Center, we believe quality therapy should be accessible, flexible, and deeply personal — no matter where you live in California. Online therapy, also called telehealth, teletherapy, virtual therapy, or telemental health, brings professional support directly to you, so you can heal and grow from the comfort and privacy of your own space.

How Online Therapy Works

We personalize online therapy around your unique needs, respecting your time and comfort while ensuring genuine human connection. Sessions are 60 minutes, giving you the space to slow down, reflect, and do the meaningful work needed for real change.

During our work together, we partner with you to:

❖ Clarify your goals and deepen self-awareness
❖ Identify and reframe patterns that no longer serve you
❖ Build healthier thoughts, habits, and coping skills
❖ Release guilt, shame, or anger that keep you stuck
❖ Foster peace, clarity, and empowerment in your daily life

We understand that therapy can feel vulnerable and even unfamiliar at first — but you deserve care, respect, and understanding every step of the way. We are here to guide you with warmth, insight, and a structured path forward.

Preparing for Online Therapy

A few simple preparations can help you get the most out of each online therapy session.

❖ Use a reliable device — smartphone, tablet, or computer — with a strong internet connection, camera, and microphone
❖ Find a quiet, private space where you feel safe and will not be interrupted
❖ Write down any questions, goals, or concerns you wish to share
❖ Use headphones or earbuds for clear audio and added privacy

Our team is happy to answer your questions and help you set up your online therapy session so you feel confident and ready to begin.

Does Online Therapy Work?

Numerous peer-reviewed studies affirm that online therapy is not only convenient—it’s also clinically effective. A study published in the Journal of Anxiety Disorders found that online Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is just as impactful as face-to-face CBT for treating anxiety and related disorders.

Another comprehensive review in the World Journal of Psychiatry echoed this, reporting that:

  • Online therapy yields outcomes comparable to in-person therapy

  • Clients generally express high satisfaction with their online counseling experiences

  • Mental health assessments conducted online are just as reliable as those conducted face-to-face

  • Many clients appreciate the ease of access and flexibility—eliminating the need for travel or time off work

Additionally, a study by McGowan et al. (2021), highlighted in both 2-Minute Medicine and Medical Dialogues, showed that EMDR therapy conducted online produced significant improvements in mental health—further expanding the scope of effective telehealth modalities.

When Online Therapy May Not Be the Best Fit

While online therapy is effective for many, it may not be suitable for every situation. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, active suicidal thoughts, or require hospitalization, in-person care may be more appropriate. Certain specialized treatments may also be more effective in person. If you are unsure whether online therapy is the best approach for your needs, we can help assess your situation and guide you to the appropriate level of care.
